Thought ‘off-grid’ meant forgoing luxury? Think again: Amazing cabins located in some of

Fancy getting away from it all? These remote cabins provide great escapes.

And while they’re ‘off-grid’, they’re still comfy – kitted out like mini boutique hotels.

They form a portfolio of accommodation by new retreat holiday company Shacks and are located in secluded beauty spots in England and Wales.

These rural properties are ‘perfect for hikers, outdoor enthusiasts and those who just need a break’.

The cabins sleep between two and three guests and Fido can even come, too. And, despite their secluded locations, the cabins are relatively easy to reach even for those without cars, with each within a 25-minute taxi ride from a railway station.

Not only that, they are ‘strategically situated near some of the best walking routes’.

Whether it’s from a lofty position, or nestling in a forest, visitors will see ‘nothing but nature’ from their cabin.

Each comes with a fully equipped kitchen, natural linen bedding, wood-burning stove and a bathroom with ‘high-quality fittings’.

Everything in the cabin is sustainable, says Shacks, including the coffee, olive oil and toiletries. You won’t have to pack board games or books either, as these are provided.

Cabins ‘Goose’ and ‘Finch’ are set in the ‘picturesque’ Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales, ‘perched just above the town of Llangollen’, with Shacks promising stays that will be ‘unforgettable’.

Shacks continues: ‘You can either drive down [to Llangollen] or if you fancy the challenging walk back up you can follow the footpath down into the town where you’ll find lots to do.

‘You can check in with “Bearded Man Adventures” for a day of canoeing, canyoning, axe throwing, or archery.

‘Afterwards, you can settle in for a drink at The Corn Mill with amazing views across the River Dee, or drop by at Gales Wine Bar (the oldest wine bar in Wales).

‘Llangollen is full of great food and activities.’

Cabins Tawny, Teal and Wren, meanwhile, are all near the Cheshire village of Tarporley and at each you can ’embrace the true essence of off-grid living without sacrificing modern comfort’.

Shacks was launched by entrepreneur Harry Tomkinson, along with co-founders Clive Sykes (who set up Sykes Cottages in 1991) and his partner, Miles Hill.

Speaking about the cabins, Harry said: ‘With composting loos, solar power, kitchen, bathroom, and a king-sized bed all integrated into a small space, the process has been very gratifying to create such a unique holiday experience with such a low carbon impact.’

He added: ‘This isn’t just a holiday – it’s a journey into the wild, with all the comforts of home, and your beloved pet dogs are very much welcome too.
