Trump tells Gen Z voters to direct their anger and blame Biden for bill that could see

Fearing political blowback of a TikTok ban, Donald Trump is laying blame on President Biden for any restrictions that could come out of the foreign aid package passed by the House over the weekend. 

‘Just so everyone knows, especially the young people, Crooked Joe Biden is responsible for banning TikTok. He is the one pushing it to close, and doing it to help his friends over at Facebook become richer and more dominant, and able to continue to fight, perhaps illegally, the Republican Party. It’s called ELECTION INTERFERENCE!’ the former president sounded off on Truth Social on Monday. 

In 2020, Trump signed an executive order banning the platform in 45 days if it were not sold by ByteDance, but a court blocked the ban before it could take effect. 

As part of a $95 billion package with aid for Israel and Ukraine, the House passed a bill requiring Chinese-owned ByteDance to divest TikTok within a year or face a ban in the U.S. 

The package was voted on as four separate bills but will be sent to the Senate as one piece of legislation for one up-or-down vote, expected in the coming days.

Only 25 Republicans voted against the so-called ‘sidecar’ bill that included a smattering of priorities, including legislation to restrict TikTok, seize frozen Russian assets and require Ukraine to give back any U.S. military equipment that is not destroyed in war. 

‘Young people, and lots of others, must remember this on November 5th, ELECTION DAY, when they vote! They also must remember, more importantly, that he is destroying our Country, and is A MAJOR THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!’ Trump added. 

Trump has for months claimed TikTok is ‘less of a danger’ to the U.S. than Facebook parent company Meta.

A TikTok spokesperson has told DailyMail.com the bill amounts to a ‘total ban’ on TikTok, suggesting ByteDance has no appetite for selling. 

‘It is unfortunate that the House of Representatives is using the cover of important foreign and humanitarian assistance to once again jam through a ban bill that would trample the free speech rights of 170 million Americans, devastate 7 million businesses, and shutter a platform that contributes $24 billion to the U.S. economy, annually,’ a TikTok spokesperson told DailyMail.com Saturday.

Opposition to the TikTok legislation has drawn a strange cross-section of Democrats and Republicans together. On the right, opposition to it was led by Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. 

On the other side of the aisle, ‘Squad’ members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., also voted against the measure.

‘I think it’s a terrible idea and it’s hysteria that’s running through both parties now.’ Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told DailyMail.com.

‘In America, we don’t just tell people you can’t own a company because we don’t like you. And 150 million people use their First Amendment freedom to express themselves on TikTok, and you can’t just have that taken away from them.’

Fellow Kentucky Republican Massie agreed.

‘The so-called TikTok ban is a trojan horse. The President will be given the power to ban web sites, not just apps,’ he posted on X.
