Jacqueline Jossa and her family are ‘trapped’ in Dubai as torrential rain sparks flooding

Jacqueline Jossa and her family have been ‘trapped’ in Dubai after the country fell victim to the heaviest rain ever recorded in the desert nation.

More than 140 mm of rain soaked Dubai on Tuesday, almost as much as what falls there in a year-and-a-half leading to a host of stars sharing pictures of the weather. 

And actress Jacqueline, 31, her husband Dan Osbourne and their two daughters Ella, nine, and Mia, five, are now stranded there, according to The Sun, amid chaos at the airport.

A source told the publication: ‘Dan and Jacqueline took the kids on a break to Dubai and it’s ended up being a nightmare.

‘They’ve been trapped by the storms and are concerned about getting back home. The airport is chaos. They’ve hunkered down at their hotel and are hoping for the best.’

Dan captured the scenes from their hotel room in a dramatic Instagram video that showed the severe weather. 

The former TOWIE star, 32, took to his Story to post an update showing the family waiting out the weather in their hotel.

He enjoyed a cuddle with his youngest daughter Mia with him captioning the sweet snap: ‘Daddy’s girl.’

His son Teddy, 10, looked less than impressed as he saw the conditions outside from the window of their hotel.

Jacqueline has been contacted by MailOnline for comment on the matter. 

Elsewhere Dane Bowers revealed he had to take refuge in his car in Dubai amid the heavy rain.

Dane, 44, shared that the power had been cut in his apartment as a result so he sat in his car so they could watch television while using a power converter. 

His ex, Laura Anderson shared well-wishes to those in Dubai, writing on Instagram on Tuesday: ‘Hope everyone in Dubai is ok. No more cloud seeding for a while.’

Laura, 34, and Dane dated on-and-off for five years from 2017 and lived together in Dubai, where he currently resides.

Cloud seeding is a type of weather modification that the typically dry Dubai often uses to increase its rainfall. 

On his Story, Dane showed his followers how rain entirely submerged the ground around his apartment in just half an hour.

He said: ‘So it looks like I’m not the only one being clever. I’m coming and sitting in my car because I’ve got no power at mine. 

‘But I am quite lucky because I have got a power converter, so I am going to plug my laptop in and try and watch some TV if I get any reception because for some reason my phone is playing up.  

TOWIE cast members Joey Essex and James ‘Arg’ Argent are also in Dubai at the moment and shared their own astonishing pictures from the flood. 

Joey filmed himself wading through the streets of Dubai barefoot, saying: ‘Nah. Nah, this ain’t even funny, mate. Dubai! What the f***?’

He also told his 1.8 million followers that he and Arg had been attempting to hitchhike for hours with no success. 

Joey held his white trainers in one hand as he showed as much of the gushing water that surrounded him as he could. 

The star announced his move to Dubai in 2023 after his multi million-pound bachelor pad in Essex was robbed.

While he still frequently visits London, Joey has made Dubai his base as he no longer feels ‘safe’ in the UK. 

Also currently in the UAE city is Yazmin Oukhellou, who was recently reported to have quit Celebrity Ex On The Beach.

Yazmin showed her followers some rainy scenes on Tuesday but on Wednesday the only footage she shared was of a bright calm Dubai as things started to heat up again.

Another ex-TOWIE member also waded into the flood chat.

Chloe Brockett shared a photo of herself smiling in a restaurant with captions ‘blowdries ruined screaming crying throwing up’ and ‘come to Dubai they said… worse (sic) storms they’ve had in 20 years’.

Good friend Kelsey Stratford responded to a fan who asked if she was planning on meeting Chloe.

Kelsey answered: ‘Yes we would’ve been together today if Dubai wasn’t completely flooded!! Trust this to be Chloe’s first day on holiday and it’s like this lmao.’

Chloe’s boyfriend Jack Fincham, who won the fourth series of Love Island, filmed the floods with the caption: ‘Never seen nothing like it here’. 

Emily Miller told her fans: ‘Thanks for everyone concerned!! We were actually going to venture out the hotel today but due to everything being flooded/damaged and road closures looks like another day at the beach!’ 

She shot to fame in 2021 on the second series of British Netflix dating show Too Hot To Handle. 

Love Island’s Francesca Allen shared several snaps of the outrageous weather with captions ‘Wild’ and ‘When it rains it pours’. 

Dubai travel authorities today urged travellers to stay away from the airport after the United Arab Emirates was battered by more than a year and a half’s worth of rain in just a few hours.

The desert city-state yesterday suffered horrendous floods which swamped the airport and many of the surrounding roads, forcing dozens of flights to be cancelled as travellers crammed into the concourse to shelter from the torrential downpour.

Shocking videos shared on social media showed how cars were filled with water, forcing hundreds of motorists to abandon their vehicles and swim to safety. Some cars were completely submerged, with the top of their roofs barely breaking the water’s surface.

Some wealthy drivers in luxury cars bragged of ‘floating’ their way through the carnage  – but most saw their vehicles stall as they became stuck in the deluge.

Rainwater also poured into homes, pushing people out of their houses and into the streets to seek shelter in higher structures.

Meanwhile, footage from inside the airport – the world’s busiest for international travel – showed passengers sleeping on the floor as others were turned away from the terminal.

Standing water lapped on taxiways as aircraft came in to land, forcing operators to completely close the airport for almost an hour yesterday. The facility quickly reopened but the schedule has descended into chaos with dozens more flights disrupted.

A statement shared by Dubai airport operators on social media read: ‘We advise you NOT to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary. Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. 

‘Please check your flight status directly with your airline. We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions.’

The rains began late on Monday, soaking the sands and roadways of Dubai with some 0.79 inches of rain, according to meteorological data collected at Dubai International Airport.

The storms intensified at around 9am local time on Tuesday and continued throughout the day, dumping more rain and hail onto the overwhelmed city.

By the end of Tuesday, more than 5.59 inches of rainfall had soaked Dubai over 24 hours.

An average year sees 3.73 inches of rain at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel and a hub for the long-haul carrier Emirates.

A clean up operation appeared to be underway early this morning, with authorities deploying tanker trucks out into the streets and highways to pump away the water.
