Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have basked in their side’s promotion to League One. 

The Red Dragons secured back-to-back promotions after thrashing League Two strugglers Forest Green 6-0 at the Racecourse Ground. 

And McElhenney, who was watching from Los Angeles, could not hold back his excitement as he took to social media. 

He wrote on X: ‘Hey @m_griffiths92 noticed you’re reading tweets. My son and I just wanted to say hi from Los Angeles. Quite a lovely day, huh?’

He then added: ‘No words’, with a heart emoji once the promotion was officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, Reynolds wrote: ‘A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney.’

‘Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives.’

Phil Parkinson’s men were aware that a win against bottom side Forest Green would ensure a second consecutive promotion.    

And victory came in emphatic fashion, with Wrexham heading into half-time 4-0 up thanks to Elliot Lee’s strike, Paul Mullin’s brace and a Ryan Inniss own-goal. 

The second half continued in similar fashion, with Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott. adding a further two goals to get celebration party underway. 

Wrexham fans took to social media to express their delight at the feat and express gratitude to the Hollywood owners.

A third fan said: ‘There’s so much to say. Right now, just thank you. Unbelievable day for the town and long time fans who fought so hard to preserve this for us. Enjoy this day, wherever you are. We’re seeing something incredible happen’.
