KICK-OFF: We’re off and running in Lancashire
Here come the teams!
A reminder of the teams as kick-off approaches
Burnley vs Bournemouth match stats
Iraola: ‘We are in a good spot football-wise’
On Dominic Solanke starting: ‘He played well yesterday and he took the decision to be available for us – it is a huge boost.’
On the game ahead: ‘I think both teams need to win and we are in different positions [in the league].
‘It is difficult there is less games remaining, every point is valuable and we want to win especially after the Man City [1-0 loss] and Newcastle [draw], we played well but we didn’t get much – we need the three points.
‘We are in a good spot and football wise and we have players performing well but it’s true defensively we have not been good the past games.
‘Hopefully today we have the chances and score the goals.’
The scenes in and around Turf Moor
Keane: ‘Burnley are conceding schoolboy goals’
They have been dreadful. Talk about teams trying to compare the Championship with a style of play to the Premier League. It’s chalk and cheese. It’s impossible.
They look weak, physically. The goal they’re giving away are schoolboy stuff. The goal they gave away against Arsenal, you wouldn’t see it on a Sunday pitch.
I admire managers who have a philosophy and a style of play, but you have to adapt. There is the odd chance you win a football match but the stats against his team are embarrassing, so the manager and his staff have got to change it.
If you can’t defend properly and if you can’t score enough goals, you’re heading back to the Championship.
We have gone too easy on some of the teams down then bottom. Kompany was a brilliant, outstanding centre-half but he must know defensively, his team are all over the place.
Kompany: ‘We can’t look beyond today and getting three points’
I think we have to look at every game as an opportunity. The lads have to show it on the pitch, we have to live it today on the pitch and I would imagine it’ll be an entertaining game between two teams who want to get a result today.
Those players who are out on the pitch, you get the chance to lace up your boots and do something out on the pitch. What more do you need? That’s all that matters really.
There is an element of history this season that might make you doubt but I’d say leave it behind and live for what’s possible. That’s so important for me.
I cannot look past this game right now, I don’t want to walk about anything more than getting three points today. I get asked what do I feel in this scenario, that scenario but I live for each day and the only thing that matters to me is 90, 95 minutes and this team showing what they’re capable of.
A pleasant afternoon in Lancashire
