Ryan Reynolds delivered an epic Emmy‘s acceptance speech by toasting one of Wrexham’s five wins in character as Deadpool.
The Hollywood A-Lister was celebrating on Sunday night when it was announced that hit documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘, charting the rise of the Welsh football team owned by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, had won five Emmy’s.
The Disney+ show was crowned the winner in the following categories:
- Cinematography For A Reality Program
- Unstructured Reality Program
- Directing For A Reality Program
- Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program
- Sound Mixing For A Reality Program
And Reynolds, as he often does, provided an hilarious response in the form of an acceptance speech on behalf of Deadpool.

Reynolds also paid tribute to Wrexham and its supporters for the ‘greatest privilege’ of his life
In a video message shared to his 21.5 million followers on X, formerly Twitter, the Wrexham co-chairman, starting with McElhenney, pay tribute to supporters of the Welsh team.
‘Wow, an Emmy, what an incredible honour,’ McElhenney said.
‘There’s so many people to thank, I’ve been waiting for this moment for 16 years, so I’ve got a lot to say. I’d like to start by thanking…’
The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star is then cut off as it cuts to a different location where Reynolds – dressed as Deadpool and referring to himself as Mr Lively, the surname of his wife Blake – takes control of the acceptance speech.
‘Whoo! Wow, umm… Mr Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me on his behalf,’ Reynolds began.
‘First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you.
‘Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story. Cymru am byth, b****es.’

He continued: ‘I’d also like to thank The Academy for this honour and for not asking us to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities.
‘I’d also like to thank FX and Disney for their support and in exchange Mr Lively promises to not f**k up my next movie.
‘Lastly, The Oscars, you’re on notice motherf***ers.’
Reynolds spent his weekend with Deadpool 3 co-star Hugh Jackman, watching the Welsh side’s FA Cup third round win over Shrewsbury Town.
Reynold posted a photo of himself with the Australian and captioned it: ‘Watching @WrexhamAFC in the @EmiratesFACup with Prisoner 24601.’
That last bit is a reference to when Jackman played Jean Valjean in the 2013 movie adaptation of the musical Les Miserables.

While Reynolds posted the two of them sitting calmly on the sofa – with an incomplete jigsaw puzzle in front of them – it was different from what Jackman shared later in the match after Wrexham had taken the lead against the higher-ranked team.
Jackman showed a joyfully screaming Reynolds after Wrexham scored late in their match against Shrewsbury Town to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Reynolds and McElhenney will learn who Wrexham will face in the next round in Monday night’s draw.
