Deion Sanders continued to play on the beef between he and CSU coach Jay Norvell by handing out sunglasses to Shannon Sharpe, Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim during a Friday appearance on First Take.

The Boulder crowd erupted as Sanders, incidentally wearing sunglasses, handed out his frames to the on-air crew. Many of the students – as is expected Saturday night – also had shades on in support of Sanders.

Rams coach Jay Norvell took a shot at Sanders while discussing TV interviews which have taken place with ESPN in the lead-in to Saturday night’s Rocky Mountain Showdown.

Sanders chose not to respond any more than he already has previously to Norvell’s comments.

‘I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder,’ the CSU coach said on his Coach’s Show Wednesday.

‘I told them, “I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.” And I said, “When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.” That’s what my mother taught me.’

In a video released Friday on Sanders’ Instagram, he gave his team glasses from his Blenders line and reiterated that CU-CSU matchup is ‘personal’ but that CSU ‘don’t realize they just helped me with business.’

‘They don’t realize not only are we gonna kick their butt, because it’s personal – but it’s gonna be business but it’s also pleasure,’ Sanders said.

On Thursday, Sanders was first made aware of Norvell’s comments, and used it as ‘ammunition’ for his players.

‘I’m minding my own business, watching some film trying to get ready, trying to get out here and be the best coach I can be,’ he said. ‘And I look up and I read some bull-junk that they done said about us,’ he told his players on video.

‘Why would you talk about us, when we don’t talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our butts off and do our job on Saturday. But when they give us ammunition…

‘It was just gonna be a good game, but they done messed around and made it personal,’ he said, with his players finishing his sentence and saying the final word.

Colorado and CSU’s annual game has an added hype around it given the start of the Sanders era in Boulder.

Usually it is a matchup reserved for the most diehard Colorado sports fans or school alums, is instead capturing national attention.

Now, the 18th-ranked Buffs are the most topical team in college football and have the highest average ticket price, surpassing Ohio State this week.

Should the Buffs move to 3-0, it will set up a mouthwatering test vs. Pac-12 rival and No. 13 Oregon on September 23.

Colorado is currently a 23.5-point favorite over Colorado State this weekend.
