  • Terminator actor has reportedly been waiting with customs officers ‘for hours’

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been detained at Munich Airport and quizzed ‘under tax law’ over an unregistered luxury watch he is planning to auction, according to German media.

The Terminator actor, 76,  has been pictured with customs officers after flying from Los Angeles this afternoon and has been waiting for several hours, BILD reports.

Arnie, who has dual Austrian and US citizenship, is said to have been on his way to attend a climate charity auction being held tomorrow in Kitzbühel, Austria.

The ex-California Governor, who is a passionate climate campaigner, reportedly brought a valuable timepiece made by Swiss luxury brand Audemars Piguet to auction off.

Spokesman for the Munich Main Customs Office, Thomas Meister, told BILD: ‘We have initiated criminal proceedings under tax law. The watch should have been registered because it is an import.’

‘If the goods remain in the EU, you have to declare them through customs. This applies to everyone, whether their name is Schwarzenegger or Müller, Meier, Huber,’ a customs spokesman told German outlet SZ

They went on to say that the movie star remains with customs officials while his luggage was checked.

‘This takes a bit of time,’ said the spokesman, who added that he assumes that the Austrian-born actor will be allowed to continue with his journey.

The A-lister is known for his love of flashy watches, and famously brought out his own limited edition model with Audemars Piguet in 1999.

Only 1,500 of the Royal Oak Offshore ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger The Legacy’ pieces were ever produced and they retail for more than £30,000.
