Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is officially set to start in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Lawrence’s status for the game had been in question throughout the week due to dealing a mild left knee sprain that forced him to leave the Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth quarter.

It was announced earlier in the day the Lawrence was expected to play barring any setbacks in pregame warmups.

Backup quarterback C.J Beathard had taken ample snaps with the first team in practice this week in case he was forced to fill in for Lawernce due to the injury.

The third year QB is now set to continue his set of 40 consecutive games started.

Lawernce has thrown for 1,439 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions to lead Jacksonville to a 4-2 record so far this season.

Last season the 24-year-old was a crucial factor in Jacksonville’s playoff run to the AFC Divisional Round .

Beathard on the other hand has been with the Jaguars organization since 2021 and gone 2-10 as a starter.

Assuming he does not aggravate the knee injury during tonight’s game Lawernce will be able to receive a few days of extra rest to heal before Week 8’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jaguars will then have their bye week during Week 9 ensuring Lawerence a full week off to allow his knee to heal even further.
