Toxic stupidity of the bleeding-heart border fools: The Left screamed it was racist to

What a foul betrayal of basic human decency.

After years of shamelessly smearing Republicans as racist Neanderthals for daring to suggest that a physical barrier may stem the raging migrant crisis, President Joe Biden is – all of the sudden – building the wall.

‘There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers… to prevent unlawful entries into the United States,’ his administration announced this week.

You don’t say.

Conservatives saw this humanitarian disaster coming from a mile away. But the allure of cynical political pandering was too great for Democrats.

Old Joe knew that soft-hearted, soft-minded liberals would be outraged by the idea of turning away men, women and children at the U.S. border. So, he capitalized on it.

The misery of millions made for a potent talking point.

‘There will not be another foot of wall constructed during my administration,’ then-presidential candidate Biden pledged in a 2020 NPR interview.

‘It shall be the policy of my administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall,’ he huffed and puffed in a presidential proclamation after winning the White House.

That was music to deluded Democrats’ ears.

After all, a wall on the southern border with Mexico was alternatively ‘a medieval vanity project,’ ‘a complete waste of taxpayer money,’ ‘an immorality,’ and a manifestation of Trump’s ‘xenophobia and racism,’ according to various vacuous White House voices and elected leftist lunatics.

Hysterical progressive environmentalists pulled their dyed-blue hairs out over the dire impact that a wall would have on the border ecosystem.

Nevermind the dire consequences of kilos of deadly fentanyl smuggled into America killing and addicting our citizens at historic rates, there were spotted owls to protect.

Now, Biden’s DHS wants to waive 26 laws and regulations, including provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act, to speed their little project along.

So what changed, Joe?

Was it the nearly five million illegal immigrants who entered the country under your watch? The falling dominos of crying Democratic mayors whose city shelters and schools are now filled?

Not only is this a humiliating admission of failure to secure America’s borders, but it is also a window into the callous hypocrisy of a commander-in-chief who didn’t give a damn about the problem until it knocked on the door of deep blue cities.

Now in a risible, outrageous act of chicanery, Biden claims he had no choice but to build 20 miles of wall in a remote stretch of south Texas, because Congress appropriated the funding under Trump.

Suddenly the hands of Captain Executive Order are tied?

Please.

Absolutely no one is buying it.

Here’s Squad leader AOC: ‘The Biden administration was not obligated to expand border wall construction — and it was certainly not obligated to waive several environmental laws to expedite construction.’

Lefty leaders from Chicago to New York City are making their own embarrassing about-faces.

A few months ago, New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams welcomed migrants bussed into the Big Apple and vowed to, ‘provide services to families that are here… I’m proud that this is a Right to Shelter state, and we’re going to continue to do that,’ he said.

How stunningly brave… and naïve and grossly negligent.

Now the mayor has been mugged by reality.

Tent cities stand in New York City parks where children once played, migrant families sleep on sidewalks and the elderly are kicked out of nursing homes to make room for even more.

This week Adams is traveling in Mexico on a hopeless PR-junket to convince migrants not to come to overstuffed Gotham, while his administration begs a judge to relax the city’s once-cherished obligation to provide beds for the homeless.

He’s not alone.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul evoked the image of the Statue of Liberty in 2021, to ‘welcome’ migrants ‘with open arms.’

‘We’ll not only house you, but we’ll protect you,’ she assured migrants streaming into her state.

Two years later her tune has changed.

‘We have to get the word out, that when you come to New York, you’re not going to have more hotel rooms. We don’t have capacity.’

Pathetic progressive poetry has given way to panic.

What cowards!

They’ve turned their backs the very people they once claimed to champion, and vulnerable, penniless, likely traumatized migrants find themselves abandoned in a foreign country.

Who are the monsters now?

How simple it was just a few years ago for progressives to gravely wax on about their morally superior positions. Then it was all just talk.

The migrant crisis was a problem for dusty Texas and Arizona backwaters. No one with a job in the liberal media had ever set foot in McAllen or Nogales or Del Rio, so who cares?

But it didn’t take much foresight to realize that reckless policies, like Biden’s declaration that undocumented, unaccompanied migrant children would be exempt from deportation, would have dangerous consequences.

Not long after Joe’s March 2022 invitation to migrant kids, the Border Patrol began releasing horrific videos of three-year-olds being dropped by smugglers over 14-foot-ball border fences – and left to fend for themselves.

Mr. President – your cynical pandering encouraged this.

Last month, Biden – in all his wisdom – granted work permits to 472,000 Venezuelan nationals.

Is it any surprise that more will now come?

Why are these liberals so wilfully blind?

You see, it is easy to be a progressive prone to pipe dreams of impossible utopias.

But it takes courage to think through one’s actions and avoid knee-jerk, bleeding-heart answers that may not be the best solutions, all the while being smeared as xenophobes.

We’ve seen the disastrous results of left-wing pie-in-the-sky ideas over and over again with COVID, with crime and with failing schools.

What the left calls compassion is often nothing more than cruel condescension.

What the left calls kindness is an in-kind contribution to chaos.

No one feels good about turning away people risking their lives to come to America in search of a better life. But someone needs to say that our border laws must be enforced and that requires leaders who make hard decisions.

The sad truth is that millions of people must be told that they cannot come to America.

Unless migrants are fleeing persecution or torture – they are not entitled to seek asylum in the United States. And until the asylum laws – as written by Congress – are enforced this crisis will persist.

Frankly, I have little hope. For even as Biden begrudgingly builds more wall, there is one thing he hasn’t done.

He hasn’t said: ‘I was wrong’.

Actions speak louder than words, and this 180-degree reversal screams from the mountaintop that his liberal self-righteousness was nothing more than incompetent bluster.

This episode also makes clear that we need a new president.

One with the guts to face real challenges instead of pandering to his base with fairy tales that never, ever end well.

well.
