Amanda Seyfried reveals she will NOT be promoting her new movie Seven Veils at TIFF despite receiving a waiver from SAG-AFTRA

Amanda Seyfried revealed that she would not be promoting her upcoming movie, Seven Veils, at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival in a post that was shared on her Instagram account on Saturday.

The 37-year-old performer was originally set to appear at the star-studded event to give a bit of extra exposure to the feature, and she had also been given clearance to do so by SAG-AFTRA.

However, the actress, who recently attended a star-studded premiere event, wrote a message to explain why she had chosen not attend the festival.

Seyfried began by writing that she would have loved to promote Seven Veils as originally scheduled.

She wrote: I am SO PROUD of this movie and it hurts my heart not to stand next to the beautiful people who helped create this special film at out @tiff_net premiere next week.’

The Veronica Mars actress then wrote that, although she had been given clearance to promote the movie, she did not feel comfortable doing so.

‘@sagaftra has given us a waiver to promote this fully, magically independent Canadian movie but it doesn’t feel right to head the fest in light of the strike,’ she wrote.

Seyfried concluded by writing that she would be more than happy to give more exposure to the film after the striking members of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA came to agreements regarding their pay.

‘I can’t wait to show you all SEVEN VEILS when the time is right (and when we’ve come to a fair agreement for actors and writers,’ she wrote.

It was previously announced that the actress had agreed to appear in the feature this past February.

The movie was directed and written by Atom Egoyan, who previously collaborated with the performer on the 2009 feature Chloe.

The director also told Variety that it was ‘such a thrill to be reunited’ with Seyfried after working with her on the erotic drama movie, which also starred Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson.

Egoyan added that he had an ‘amazing experience’ with the actress as they worked on their former project.

The film is centered on a theatre director who begins to deal with repressed trauma while working on an adaptation of Salome.

In addition to the movie’s lead, Seven Veils’ cast was rounded out by performers such as Rebecca Liddiard, Mark O’Brien and Douglas Smith.

Principal photography for the feature took place earlier this year, with much of shooting taking place in Toronto.

Seven Veils is scheduled to premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival, which is set to kick off later this month, and it will also be screened at several other festivals later in the year.
