‘Ron’s temp spiked 40 at home, I phoned an ambulance. Ron was admitted and IV antibiotics started but NOTHING was working, in fact Ronnie deteriorated.’

The incredible doctors and nurses started every blood test and scan you can imagine. We paced rooms and corridors for days just waiting for an answer, a result … anything!’

‘Seeing Ron this way kicked me with a fear and desperation I’ve never felt in my whole life. What is happening to our son! Please tell me!’

She then explained how doctors finally reached a diagnosis. ‘After a couple of days , more symptoms appeared and results returned. Ron was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, something I had never heard of before.’

As Sophie explained ‘Kawasaki disease is a rare, non contagious disease that only affects around eight in every 100,000 children under the age of five in the UK. This disease causes swelling of the blood vessels throughout the body.’

‘It can also affect the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle when not treated early enough. The main symptoms to look out for include a persistent high temperature, body rash, swelling and then peeling of the hands and feet, red blistered lips, bloodshot eyes, strawberry tongue, inflamed sore throat and Swollen lymph glands.’

Sophie went on to thank her local hospital and the world renowned Great Ormond Street in London who collaborated on Ronnie’s diagnosis and treatment.

‘This past week has shaken our whole world as a family. I’ve never felt a fear like it. But I need to say THANKYOU to the incredible team at Broomfield hospital, St Marys and Great Ormond street.’

‘Thank you for answering our prayers and making our Ronnie better, His little smile says it all so Thank you Please if anyone reading this is a parent/carer of a child with Kawasaki disease Jamie and I would be so so grateful to hear from you and your story.’

She ended her message by promising to’ do all that I can to help raise awareness of this disease that to this day still has no explained cause ❤️‍OUR VERY SPECIAL RONNIE ROO IS COMING HOME and we are back together as a family at last.’

The post comes days after Mrs Hinch revealed Ronnie had been rushed to hospital with a mystery illness after his neck started to swell and his temperature spiked.

Mrs Hinch, famed for her housekeeping hacks, confirmed Ronnie  had been taken to A&E as a precautionary measure.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: ‘Everything just seems like a fog right now. Ron’s temp spiked to over 40 and his neck was swelling, limited head movements. I couldn’t keep meds or fluids in him.

‘We were taken to A&E and sent home with antibiotics and it just didn’t feel right. My gut told me no.’

The influencer later dialed 111 before returning to hospital with her son.

She added: ‘Since having IV antibiotics we are seeing a really really slow improvement but we will be in here for a little longer yet, as we need to get his temperature satisfactory and need the antibiotics to kick in.

WHAT IS KAWASAKI DISEASE?

Kawasaki disease is a condition that mainly affects children under the age of five. The cause of it is unknown, but it is believed to be an autoimmune response to an infection.

Around eight in every 100,000 children develop Kawasaki disease in the UK each year.

It’s characteristic symptoms include a rash, swollen glands, dry or cracked lips, red fingers or toes and red eyes.

According to the NHS it is always treated in hospital and anyone who notices symptom in a child is told to speak to their GP or call 111 urgently.

Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a solution of antibodies, and aspirin are the two main medicines used.

Though children can make a full recovery within six to eight weeks, some complications can develop from the condition, including with the heart.

If untreated, complications can be fatal in about 2 to 3 per cent of cases.

After discussing her anxiety, Sophie was inundated with messages from supportive fans and responded to one who asked what she meant by ‘stomach shivers’.

She explained: ‘It’s like when you get a moment of tense vibration in your tummy and then it stops.

‘And then you’re alright for a minute and you’ll remember a few things and it’ll go again and then it’ll stop.

‘It’s like a b****y little electric shock that goes in your stomach and stops for a bit. I probably am the only one [who experiences it].

‘I call them stomach shivers or tummy shivers.’

Explaining her recent break from Instagram, Sophie said last month: ‘My dad is in hospital at the moment guys. My dad has never been blessed shall we say with fantastic health – from his chest, his lungs, his heart. He’s always struggled you know.’
